Post Holiday

The Festive Season in Ireland is nearly over. New Years I will just see with my daughter and head to bed. It brings up more for me than Christmas. The 4th I'm going to a version of a dinner dance so my daughter can collect a GAA medal. Both of us don't really want to dress up, especially her.

She is 13 and not into dressing up or make up just yet. It can be so uncomfortable because of other peoples feelings. Like once when their was the 4th years play , I overheard adults complaining about one girl looking  grown up ie they had uncomfortable feelings when they looked at her because puberty had hit sooner. Another girl was 'normal' because her appearance didn't have the same effect on them. Nothing to do with the girls themselves only their own feelings. We had a talk about wellness and were told that puberty can start as young as ten or as late  16 so through no fault of their own you have tiny teens in with adult sized versions of themselves. No wonder they have angst. And I wish it stopped at 35.
